It's a craft beer's spacious, people are friendly, they have outdoor seating and the beer is good. What else do you want?

Did a solo day hike in the nearby George Washington National Forest and was in a hurry to get home, a two hour drive away. Stopped in during the COVID weirdness, put my mask on and I was the only one there on a hot Sunday mid afternoon in July. I have never been to Harrisonburg before, but it's a nice college town (James Madison University) and I am confident that in normal times the place would have had a lot of customers. The beer is very good and the space itself is quite nice. Because I had a two hour drive ahead of me, I asked for the lowest ABV beer, the knowledgeable staffer described their table beer to me. It is low in alcohol but full of flavor and very refreshing after my hike. I would really like to go there under normal times. It's not much fun sitting in a taproom when the only people there are you and the bartender. Ugh! These are some challenging times for everyone.

Great beer, and an awesome atmosphere. It makes for a perfect hang out spot in downtown Harrisonburg. They also host music through out the year, and help put on community events.

Cool venue. Great beer. I’m giving 3 stars due to lackluster service. I’m guessing that you are supposed to go to the bar only for service because if I didn’t speak up, staff basically fully ignored me (I was dressed appropriately and showered up)...I had cash ready to tip but when ignored for over an hour decided this review would suffice.

We love going to Pale Fire! It features a cozy fireplace and book exchange, which is always fun to browse. I also had family who lived in the Ice House, so it’s a great place to meet up for a drink. Those that planned my bridal shower even had it hosted here- it’s a great place for a large group and you can bring your own food in. Pale Fire is a great choice!

4.5/5 August 2019. Pale Fire actually inspired our trip down to Harrisonburg. We tasted several of their beers at a local brew fest and really liked them. While talking to their rep he recommended some places down there and we decided to give it a shot. They have a large bar area with both bar and table seating. We tasted most if not all of the beers on tap and enjoy most of them. Even the ones I didn't enjoy were well done but just not to my taste. The bar tender was great and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would recommend stopping here if you are in town.
