We recently dined at the reopened restaurant. It was a dispiriting experience, in terms of atmosphere, service, and food. Although the interior retains its cool, dimly-lit elegance, the table settings were missing: no chargers, no plates, no flatware, no salt and pepper shakers, no flowers - just a barren table top. Service was certainly not spot-on. Even though the restaurant was at half capacity, and there seemed to be plenty of servers around, service was slow and impersonal. The hostess who seated us without any greeting wasn't welcoming or even attractively dressed. (No Ginger there.) Once at our table, we had to ask for place settings and bread, drinks took a while to arrive, the wine service perfunctory, and there was no follow-up after the courses were presented. As for the food, the menu hasn't been changed for years, and one gets the impression that it is all prepared ahead of time, especially the sides, with little imagination or interest from the kitchen. A notice on the front door indicates that the restaurant has new owners. Will they return this very special place to its former "glory" or continue its decline?

We love this establishment. Food and service is always the best. Was disapointed that on the reservation I said it was Ken's birthday. He was acknowledged with a lovely card on the table when we were seated. Then there were others celebrating their birthday and aniversary around us. They all received a desert and candle. I thought that was just a simple jesture, but Ken did not get that same treatment. Honestly I felt bad and told the lady at the front and she said she would tell the man at the front. My husband was sad after we left that the people around him got a desert and candle and we just walked out. We always support SOTM,and love it. Was sad to see it was not packed as usual, but to be a outside supporter was a disappointment for me.

It is like going back in time to an old classic romantic restaurant with great comfort food despite the pandemic. Reservations are required so all the tables are separated. More care seems to be taken here than other restaurants with one-use paper menus instead of the wipe-down ones. The food is perfectly prepared and presented. Entrees are between $25 and $35 include soup or salad.

Just really hated that they would not break down our bill for 6 of us for dinner. Pulled out the calculator and proceeded to figure out who ate what. Silly ending to a lovely evening. Will not go back!!!

We dined at Shame on the Moon last evening as a special birthday celebration. It was not a good experience. Our waiter appeared and instead of commanding our attention, casually strolled around the table mentioning the specials when no one was listening as he handed out the menus. He brought the salads and as I was finishing mine the plate was removed. Then we had to wait for our entrees. The food was decent -- not excellent and not deserving of the prices. The service certainly did not command the 20% tip that was mandated by the restaurant. I will not return.

There were 6 of us for dinner. Just rather annoying when we asked to have the bill separated. So we pulled out the calculator and proceeded to break down who had what. Adding up who had what was absurd. Ok you had 2 glasses of wine. Wait you had a salad. Wait you had the sea bass ..... rediculous. For this reason none of us will return

We were pleased with our meal, comfort food. We shared an appetizer and ceasar salad. Liver and onions entrees. We also had a bottle of Veuv Clicquot. It was our anniversary and we received an excellent complimentary desert.
